10 Habits That Improved My Wellbeing
As I get older, I realize the importance of structure. It helps me keep things in order and avoid feeling like I’m losing my mind. Aging brings wisdom, and with it, a need for greater patience. I’m still working on the patience part, but I have developed 10 habits that help me stay sane as I age. Feel free to use my list or create your own.

- Daily Exercise: Incorporating at least 30 minutes of physical activity, such as walking, yoga, or weightlifting, into my daily routine boosted my energy levels and mood.
- Mindful Eating: Paying attention to what I eat and making healthier food choices, such as incorporating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, has improved my physical health and mental clarity.
- Regular Sleep Schedule: Establishing a consistent sleep routine, aiming for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night, has enhanced my overall health, focus, and emotional stability.
- Meditation and Mindfulness: Practicing meditation and mindfulness techniques daily has helped reduce stress, increase self-awareness, and improve my overall sense of peace and well-being.
- Staying Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water throughout the day has kept me energized, improved my skin health, and supported my body’s essential functions.
- Positive Relationships: Nurturing positive relationships and spending quality time with family and friends has provided emotional support, happiness, and a sense of belonging. I stay away from negativity and align myself with positive vibes only.
- Personal Growth: Engaging in continuous learning and personal development, whether through reading, taking courses, or learning new skills, has kept my mind active and motivated.
- Gratitude Practice: Keeping a gratitude journal and regularly reflecting on the things I’m thankful for has significantly shifted my mindset to be more positive and appreciative of life’s small joys. I began this practice during the pandemic and have consistently maintained it. On rough days, reading my entries helps keep me grounded and reminds me of the good in my life.
- Digital Detox: Setting boundaries with technology and taking regular breaks from screens has reduced my stress levels, improved my sleep, and allowed me to be more present in the moment.
- Creative Outlets: Engaging in creative activities such as painting or writing has provided an emotional release, increased my happiness, and allowed for self-expression. This blog has been a particularly effective outlet for stress relief. Even though I don’t publish everything I write, the process itself offers a significant emotional release.
