We Are The Proud Ones

The ones who fight against injustices. The anti- racists. The single mothers working hard to make ends meet. A woman having to choose between life or death for her unborn child. Because choosing life or death could mean life or death.
The children with special needs who are denied access to health care. Those with mental health issues who show up everyday even when the voices tell them to lay down. Those with substance abuse issues who fight their demons and win. Day by day.
The immigrant working hard to send money home to a family who is dependent on their income. The immigrant trying to achieve the American dream. No human is illegal.
Same sex couples. Love is Love. The Queers, Bisexuals, Transgenders, Lesbians, Gays.
The cancer survivor. The widows. The orphans. Mothers and fathers who have lost their child due to police brutality and still advocate for the lives of others.
Infertile but mothering. Foster mother. Adoptive mother. The neighbor who mothers.
The survivors of domestic abuse. Survivors.
Those in therapy working through their traumas. Call ya mama.
The teacher with a class of kindergartens trying not to lose their shit. Teaching virtually.
The parents working from home during a pandemic trying to keep their little ones on track so the teachers, who are teaching during a pandemic. Virtually. Don’t lose their shit.
The teachers going back to the classrooms, during a pandemic. No hazard pay.
Parents facing evictions but their kids have no clue. They are the glue.
Registered voters who will be brave enough to ignore hate, scare tactic, and suppression to exercise their rights at the polls this November 2020.
