Faith over Fear
What could you try for the first time?
Ever find yourself standing on the edge of something new, staring into the unknown, and thinking, “I could totally do this… if I wasn’t so terrified?” We’ve all been there. You could be about to take on a new job, start a new relationship, or even try out a bold new hairstyle, and suddenly, fear creeps in like an uninvited guest at your perfectly planned party. It whispers all the reasons why you shouldn’t take that step. But what if, just this once, you put faith over fear?
Let’s be real, fear is persistent. It could show up when you’re least expecting it, telling you that this big new thing could go terribly wrong. But guess what? Fear isn’t a fortune teller. It’s just a nervous little voice trying to keep you in your comfort zone. And comfort zones? They’re like that one pair of sweatpants you’ve had for years: cozy, but not for every occasion.
Now, imagine what could happen if you decided to put faith over fear. Not in some grand, sweeping, “I’m moving to Bali to find myself” kind of way (although, hey, if that’s your vibe, go for it). But in small, everyday ways that remind you that there’s more to life than playing it safe.
Maybe you could finally have that tough conversation you’ve been avoiding. Sure, fear says, “What if they react badly?” But faith chimes in with, “What if this brings you closer together?” You could face rejection, awkwardness, or silence. But on the other side of that fear, there could be a deeper connection, understanding, and a whole lot of peace.
Or maybe it’s a dream you’ve been sitting on, convincing yourself it’s just not the right time. Fear will tell you that the timing is never right, that you’re not ready, or that someone else could do it better. But faith? Faith steps up and says, “Let’s go. You’ve got this.” It’s like your personal hype man, cheering you on even when you’re second-guessing everything.
But here’s the best part about putting faith over fear: it doesn’t have to be perfect. You could stumble, you could fail, and it could all look a little messy. Faith isn’t about guaranteeing smooth sailing; it’s about trusting that even if things get rocky, you’ll find a way to keep going. You might even surprise yourself with how much resilience you’ve been sitting on, just waiting for the right moment to come out and shine.
Of course, fear could also try to trick you into thinking faith is some elusive superpower reserved for the super zen, the yogis, and those who meditate for hours on end. But the truth is, you already have it in you. You just have to tap into it, like turning on a light switch. One minute, you’re in the dark, and the next, you’re seeing all the possibilities laid out before you.
Faith says, “You could.” You could try that new thing. You could go after that dream. You could trust yourself to handle whatever comes next, even if you don’t have all the answers right now. And the best part? When you choose faith over fear, you’re giving yourself permission to live a life that’s a little more daring, a little more unpredictable, and a whole lot more fun.
So what could you try for the first time? Maybe it’s not the skydiving or the spontaneous cross-country road trip (although that sounds epic). Maybe it’s just waking up tomorrow and deciding that you’ll let faith be louder than fear. You could put yourself out there, take that leap, and trust that even if you don’t know where you’ll land, you’re going to be okay. In fact, you could be better than okay. You could be Ahhmazing.
