The Marathon Continues~RIP Nipsey Hussle

Give me my flowers while I’m still alive and able to smell them!

I didn’t know much about Nipsey Hussle before his death. Since his death I’ve learned that he was so much more than a rapper, and wished I had known about his activism and selflessness before he died. Because then I would have been able to give him his flowers. I would have been able to identify him as someone who worked hard assisting the underserved within the Black community of Los Angeles. He provided jobs for felons who couldn’t find work, and employed members of the neighborhood to work in his stores, among other acts of philanthropy. I would have been able to applaud all his efforts and accomplishments. And I would have been able to have another seed to plant in my garden of humanity.

Now like most, I mourn for a man I never knew. A man who I have nothing but respect and love that grew from his love of people. A man I have never met, but whose spirit transcends space, time, and death in the short life he lived. A man who didn’t deserve to die the way in which he did.

The life of Nipsey Hussle by all accounts was well lived, and I’m so sorry he didn’t get his flowers while he was alive.

💙💙💙💙💙 Call your mom💙 Tell the ones you love that you do💙 Be kind to one another 💙 Live your truth 💙 Be a kind human💙 💙💙 We should all be influenced by how Nipsey lived and ready to continue the marathon by making a positive impact in our own neighborhood

💙 “Life is what you make it, I hope you make a movement. Hope your opportunity survives the opportunist / Hopin’ as you walk across the sand, you see my shoe print / And you follow ’til it change your life, it’s all an evolution / And I hope you find your passion ’cause I found mine in this music / But I hope it’s not material ’cause that’s all an illusion / And they all in collusion / This racist institution, double standard / Actin’ like they not the reason we ruthless” Nipsey Hussle (Bigger Than Life lyrics).
